July 8, 2006 All remaining non-shipped paintings must be picked up at SALI, 299 E. Broadway,Greenwood, IN 46146, no-later than 4:00 p.m.  SALI hours Tue., - Sat. noon to 4”00 p.m.

Rules for Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition II
The Annual Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition II is sponsored by the  Southside Art League, Inc. which will be held in the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center Gallery on the campus of University of Indianapolis, 1400 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227-3697.  The black tie optional opening reception and awards presentation are scheduled for Saturday evening, June3, 2006 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Gallery, where a $1,000 best of show prize and other merit awards will be given. (ALL Cash Awards)

ELIGIBILITY:
Artists currently residing in the United States, USA, are eligible to enter one, two, or three works for judging.  Work must be original, completed within the past 3 years, and not previously exhibited at a SALI Exhibitions.

RULES: Original Art Work Only!
Professionally Framed, two three dimensional works of oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, graphics, pastel,drawing and sculptures may be entered with the limitation not to exceed 48”X60” in any one direction, including frame, and not to weigh any more than l00 pounds.  No computer art, photographs, or mechanical reproductions.  All works must be wired ready to hang, FLAT STRAP HANGERS ONLY, no screw eyes, no claws hangers. Plexiglas instead of glass must be used on all work in metal frames. ENTRY FEE:
A $40 entry fee for nonmembers of the Southside Art League, Inc. and $30 entry fee for members allows the artist to enter up to three works (one slide per work) for judging.  Check or money order should be made payable to the Southside Art League, Inc. This fee is non-refundable.  The fee, with the completed application card, STAMPED notification card, slide(s) and a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE for return of slides) should be mailed to: Southside Art League, Inc. Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition II,Attention: Suzanne Julian, Slide entries must be received no later than May 1, 2006.

SLIDE REVIEW:
Up to three slides per artist, (one slide per work) may be submitted for judging.  These should be 2 x 2 inches, 35 mm, and in color.  All slides must be labeled to indicate top and the artist’s name, title of work, medium, size framed and entry designation (A, B or C).

This information must be the same as that which is also on the application card. Paintings should be photographed without the framing or with the framing blacked out. SALI and the juror reserves the right to reject upon arrival, any piece of unacceptable craftsmanship and quality not discernible in the slides.  

AWARDS AND OPENING RECEPTION:
Public is invited and all entrants are urged to attend, if possible.   A $1,000 best of show and merit awards will be selected by the jurors from the actual works. Whenever possible, award winners are requested to be present for the awards presentation on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center Gallery on the campus of University of Indianapolis, 1400 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227-3697

SALES:
The Southside Art League, Inc. and the Johnson County Museum Of History will retain 33 1/3% of all sales.  All of the entries must be for sale.

INSURANCE:
All reasonable handling will be exercised with each piece of exhibited work, neither the Southside Art League, Inc., the University of Indianapolis. nor their insurance carriers, will be liable for any loss or damage incurred during the transportation and/or display of said artwork.  Such coverage will be the responsibility of the artist.

RECEIVING:
Works selected for the exhibition must be received hand-delivered or shipped prepaid by 4:00 p.m., May 25, 2006, to the Southside Art League, Inc,, 299 E. Broadway, Greenwood, IN 46143Shipped entries must be in reusable containers and be accompanied by a prepaid return shipping order for the amount necessary to ship back to the artist. Also, add an additional $25 for Exhibition Handling, no handling fee for hand delivered paintings.  All shipping costs and liability for damage are the responsibility of the artist.  Entries not picked up by July 8, 2006 will become the property of the Southside Art League, Inc.

AGREEMENT:  Submission of a work to this exhibition shall be understood to indicate an agreement on the part of the artist with all conditions set forth.
